What Cookies Are?
A cookie is a small text file that is stored in your web browser that allows the Site or a external third-party to recognize you, as a visitor (and not as an individual). Cookies might be used for the following purposes: (1) to enable certain functions; (2) to provide analytics; (3) to store your preferences; and (4) to enable ad delivery and behavioral advertising.
Cookies can either be session browser cookies or persistent browser cookies. A session cookie expires automatically when you close your browser. A persistent cookie will remain until it expires, or until you delete your browser cookies from your browser. Expiration dates are set in the browser cookies themselves; some may expire after a few minutes while others may expire after longer periods. Cookies placed by the web property you’re visiting are sometimes called "first party browser cookies," while browser cookies placed by other entities are sometimes called "external third-party browser cookies."
Cookies are many times used with a pixel tag on the Sites. Pixel tags (also known as web beacons or clear GIFs) are typically transparent graphic images placed on a web property. These pixels are used in combination with browser cookies to measure the actions of visitors to their web propertys that arrive through the service features. For example, we, or our business partners may use pixel tags to track interactions on the Site/s or to understand referrals to partners from our Site/s, or, for Retargeting purposes, as we described in the Privacy Notice, or other interest based advertising, as further explained in section 5 below.
What browser cookies are used for when I use the Site?
When you access and/or use the Site or interact with the service features, we, or a external third-party may place a number of browser cookies in your browser. Some of the browser cookies will only be used if you use certain features or select certain preferences, and some browser cookies will be used for a longer-term purpose, as described in our Privacy Notice.
Each cookie serves one of the following purposes:
Essential Cookies: These first party browser cookies allow site visitors to use a feature of the Site such as: (i) remaining logged in, or (ii) making purchases.
Analytics Cookies: These browser cookies track data about how the Site/s are being used so that we can improve them and report on our performance. We may also use analytics browser cookies to test new ads, pages or features to see how site visitors react to them. Analytics browser cookies may either be first party or third-party browser cookies.
Preference Cookies: These first party browser cookies store your Site preferences.
Ad Targeting Cookies: These external third-party browser cookies (also known as "behavioral" or "targeted" advertising are placed by advertising platforms or networks in order to: (i) deliver ads and tracks ad performance, and (ii) enable advertising networks to deliver ads that may be relevant based upon your activities.
How do third parties use browser cookies on the Site/s?
Third party entities like analytics, Third Party vendors or ad networks generally use browser cookies to collect user data on an anonymous basis. They may use that data to better understand site visitors’ activities on the Site and other web propertys that they visited immediately after.
